Trollied

There are few places as universally known as the supermarket. In Britain we spend half our total shopping bill in supermarkets, Sainsburys has 18 million customers a week and the only place in mainland Britain without a Tesco is Harrogate. They are literally everywhere. Trollied will take this familiar setting and look at the characters who work there. We all know the types: the students doing it for the money, the kids who are too stupid to work anywhere else, the ones who joined five years ago and are stuck there and the ones who ran local shops before the supermarket put them out of business. Set in Valco, a fictional budget supermarket in the north west of England, Trollied finds the funny in one of our most familiar surroundings and focuses on the types of characters we all recognise: bored checkout staff, ineffectual managers and a range of customers, from the irate to the downright bizarre.
